About Me

David Engelhard is a Saxophonist and Pianist based in New York City. Originally from Atlanta, David holds a Master's Degree in Jazz Performance from Queens College, where he studied with Antonio Hart and privately with David Sanchez, David Binney, Donny McClaslin, and Aaron Goldberg. In addition to regularly performing his original jazz material around NYC, David has toured extensively with the Zac Brown Band.  He performed on their Live at the Fabulous Fox Theater DVD and other high-profile events like the 2011 Country Music Awards with Gregg Allman and Tom Scott. He has also shared the stage with major artists like John Mayer and Scott Weiland.

Beyond performing, David is an accomplished composer who has created a wide range of works in various styles, from experimental electronic music to solo saxophone compositions. Some notable performances include a modern dance composition at the renowned La MaMa theater in NYC and a commemorative solo saxophone piece for the late author Chinua Achebe, performed at the United Nations.


As a teacher, David has led masterclasses worldwide, teaches Jazz Improv classes at the prestigious New York Jazz Academy, one of NYC's premier jazz schools, and is available for private lessons both in NYC and online.
